San Gimignano, with the Italian sun glistening intently on its 14 remaining towers, cuts a dramatic figure from its position high on a Tuscan hill overlooking vineyards. However, it is when you get up-close-and-personal with this medieval-walled city and crane your neck to the blue sky that you truly appreciate its mesmerising beauty.

A trip to Tuscany must include San Gimignano! Highly recommend for its medieval charm, spectacular views and delicious food. It really feels like stepping back in time. It’s not public transport accessible and if you have limited time, hiring a car is the best way to go. Ample public parking is available as well.
We visited around late October so it wasn’t too busy compared to summer time and the weather was perfectly warm during the day and mild around dinner time. Light jacket only. It’s a photographer’s delight as there’s always a scenic opportunity as we turn a corner.
From SG we drove to Siena, another stunning city close by and not to miss! For lunch we were lucky enough to stumble upon a small multi-Routard recommended resto and it seriously did not disappoint. It’s called Osteria Nonna Gina di Lella e Dado. Some of the best pasta we’ve had in Emilia Romagna is here.
Also don’t miss the gelato at Gelateria Dondoli, they’ve won multiple awards and offer unique gelato flavours you really have to try.

If you’re in Tuscany, you have to visit San Giminiano.
If you’re in Tuscany, you have to visit San Giminiano. The city centre has a very special architecture and a lot of small shops and wineries. It’s the perfect place to spend a few days with your spouse. We had a wine tasting at Marronaia Winery, close to the city and we enjoyed it, but next time I would also try another winery, like Tenuta Torciano, which we tried a few months earlier. We ate a fantastic meal at ristorante Fuoriluogo, which I recommend strongly. I recommend staying as close as possible to the city, it’s a nice feeling that you can walk while admiring the sights.

I can't describe it, you have to be there, you have to see this miracle.
I recommend parking lots number 3 and 4, there is always space, the price is reasonable and you only have to walk for a few minutes, and there is also an elevator.

It is one of the most unique destinations in all of Europe. San Gimignano is a must-visit when in Tuscany. Its medieval appearance whisks you back in time and one can easily transform the tourists to locals bringing their food to market. High-quality restaurants and a world-champion gelateria, what is not to fall in love with. Leave your healed shoes at home and wear comfortable footwear as the streets, side streets and shops are far from smooth, but this is just part of the experience

You can explore the Torre Grossa and a couple of other sites with one pass, there's excellent pasta (you will smell the ragù while you explore in the afternoon!) and aperitivi for just a few euros, plenty of places to cool off with gelato, and the view over Tuscany from the Torre and the Rocca are spectacular.
The town in miniature is also worth your time. And be sure to have a glass of Vernaccia, the local white wine!
The vila is very private oriented on a marvelous estate surrounded by olive trees and yet, within a walking distance of the city of San Gimignano. Of course, there is a little of climbing to do, but that's very normal in this area.
The kind owners live nearby and maintain the swimming pool and garden. Also, in case of advise, they are not far away, but on a safe distance to respect your privacy.
The villa is very well equipped with all the luxury you need in order to make your stay as comfortable as possible.
Our flight delay into Italy caused us to lose our reserved car. We were informed there's a car shortage so our car was given away and almost no taxi was available either. While lost and exhausted, the kind and generous owner saved us many times for impromptu rides and wonderful care. I told my husband that it felt like you can be lost in Italy and still amongst family. This is so true of this divine Agriturismo. I am already on planning on bringing the entire family back. Grazie Mila.
- Very friendly, helpful and uncomplicated staff!
- The location is FANTASTIC! 2 mins from the center of San Gimignano and all restaurants and an amazing bakery is "right next door".
- Very clean bed sheets and towels. Better than many hotels.
- The windows had mosquito nets installed. (Very needed, bc there are nasty mosquitoes in the summer)
- Parking right infront of the house.
- We were allowed to use the pool at the main office building (3min drive by car).
A Lovely Boutique hotel so convenient for exploring the area. Easy Access to San Gimignano walking or shuttle bus and back to the peace and quiet of the hotel. The room was a lovely modern large space with a small outside space for a table and chairs. There are outside spaces for breakfast and by the pool.
Fabulous breakfasts and great service from the staff who create a very welcoming atmosphere.
Absolutely phenomenal location, staff, rooms and CATS! Comfortable bed, good wifi, extra pillows, a small fridge, new bathroom, cool.tour and history of the property.
Quick trip into the cute town with bicycles, driving or walking.
Manfredi ensured we had the BEST stay of our Italy tour! He keeps the hotel squeaky clean and gorgeous! 100% would recommend staying here. We will definitely return.
Everything was absolutely perfect! They have the most friendly staff who eagerly greet you with a bottle of wine, snacks & tells you to "relax now". The view from the rooms are stunning & they have an excellent breakfast and response time to requests. It was one of our most special and authentic stays in Italy with a private tour of the winery and wine tasting.
Outstanding in all respects, food, location, staff, view, amenities and attention to detail. Would give a higher rating is we could. Best place we have stayed and food eaten during travel through France and Italy. Beautiful view of San Gimignano from dinner on the terrace, beautiful food every night and morning and the care of each staff member were highlights.
Roberto, the host was extremely hospitalble and pleasant. He gave us good dinner recommendation based on our interest and the breakfast basket was delicious and plenty. The view from our room and the home in general was spectacular. Lyla, the cute dog was a bonus- so sweet and well behaved! This was the best part of our stay in Italy
Great location to San Gimignano. Great views of the Tuscan countryside. Dinner with the hotel guests feels like dinner with family. The host came around with a platter and asked if you wanted seconds. Room was very clean, great AC. Beautiful views. Close to the beautiful patio. A beautiful property.
The location is incredible, in a small, beautiful Tuscan village: exactly what you would hope for when travelling to Italy. The rooms are rustic, beautifully renovated and comfortable. Beyond that, the staff goes above and beyond to meet your every need and genuinely cares about all guests.
Very roomy apartment in excellent condition. This was my stop to do laundry halfway through my stay in Italy and it worked out great. There were strings outside the window to hang things to dry. The hosts had prepared a lot of information about the area for the guests in the room.
We are traveling to Italy since 2010. Castello di Fulignano is one of the best location we have visited. Is the best place if You are looking for apartament with great views and exeptional service. Additional advantage is an restaurant located on site.
Exceptional location and beautiful scenery , Paola, the host was always available and always helpful in any questions we had. The pool is always clean, Breakfast was excellent and a good choice before heading out to explore more of Italy.
Really great location, just outside of San Gimignano. The staff were lovely, and very helpful. Great food options if relaxing at the hotel and not wanting to go out. This was a perfect stay to relax and enjoy the Tuscan sun!
Perfect Hotel in San Gimignano, super Restaurant too. Everything nearby, short distance from the car park (which is also very cheap). I recommend this place when staying in the wonderful town of san Gimignano!
Absolutely perfect location and hotel right in the center of town. The hostess Simone was so accomodating and helpful and the room was one of my favorites of my entire month long Italy stay!
Dinner at the restaurant was excellent. Best Ragu we had in Italy! Wine was awesome as well. Whole ambiance and feel could not be beat. We loved it and will plan to return in the future.
